Jack Weinstein is currently President of the Sterlington Group, a consulting firm providing "CFO" and business development services to a variety of companies, both within and outside of the healthcare industry. From October 2004 to December 2011, he served in various roles for Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq:CPRX), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of prescription drugs targeting rare (orphan) neuromuscular and neurological diseases. His positions included Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Business Development and Treasurer. Prior to joining Catalyst, for a period of approximately the last 20 years, Mr. Weinstein was employed as an investment banker with various firms including Ladenburg Thalmann, Gruntal, Lepercq de Neuflize and E.F. Hutton.
Mr. Weinstein brings additional insights based on skills gained as an operator and equity investor. As a General Partner of a $32 million equity fund, Mr. Weinstein, raised capital for the fund, evaluated investments and actively assisted portfolio companies develop and implement strategic acquisitions and growth plans.
At Catalyst, Mr. Weinstein was part of the senior management team which in-licensed two prescription drugs, and raised over $35 million in private and public equity financing, including two private placements, a $20 million full-blown IPO and five registered direct public offerings of common stock. In addition to his duties at Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, as an operating executive, he undertook the restructuring of a healthcare services and consulting company. By redesigning that company's production process and financial structure, it became a viable independent entity. In addition to assisting healthcare companies, Mr. Weinstein has successfully completed assignments for a variety of other private and public companies, with specific expertise in healthcare, environmental services, entertainment and media companies.
Mr. Weinstein served as Chairman of National Food Services Inc. and as a board member of Weather Information Technologies, Inc. and Climatrol, Inc.
Mr. Weinstein earned a Bachelor's Degree magna cum laude from the University of Miami in 1979 and an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1983.
