Getting FDA Approval - What Investors Need to Know

(New York Business Forums Conference Center) - Understanding the FDA and evaluating a company's product approval strategy is critical to determining the likelihood, timing, and cost of bringing products to the market. You or your portfolio company's may have an interest in Getting FDA Approvals What Investors Need to Know a forum being held on Thursday October 3, 2002 from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. Avalon Group, Ltd., a leading private investment-banking firm providing services to middle market and emerging-growth companies, has joined with the NY Business Forums to create this program where experts and active healthcare investors discuss the FDA and how its behavior affects life sciences companies. While not profiting by the forum, Avalon wants to give companies and clients the opportunity to participate in this timely event.

As moderator of the forum, Jack Weinstein, Managing Director of Avalon Group, will be joined by institutional investors and industry experts to explore critical issues facing the FDA and how they may impact life sciences companies. Speakers will include Edward Allera, Partner of Buchanan Ingersoll PC, James Gale, Chief Investment Officer of Sanders Morris Harris Inc.'s Corporate Opportunities Fund, Dennis Purcell, Senior Managing Director of Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund and Howard Wachtler, Managing Officer of QED Technologies Inc. The program will cover topics ranging from:

Key issues facing the next FDA Commissioner
Evaluating a company's FDA product approval strategy
Implications for biologics approval with the CDER reorganization
Ramifications of Imclone's implosion and scandals
Changes for generic drugs and a discussion of generic biologics
Switching prescription drugs to OTC and other product lifecycle extension strategies
These investors and industry experts will also share their views about making the right choices for clinical trial endpoints, FDA approvals, approvable indications, handling company relationships with the FDA, and the use of CRO's. There will be two Q&A sessions and informal one-on-one discussions where one can speak with other healthcare and life sciences investors. Registration for the Getting FDA Approvals forum is through New York Business Forums, Inc., a leading producer of exclusive seminars.

We are sure this event is a unique and valuable opportunity to learn more about healthcare investing and the FDA.
