Gerard is a seasoned international capital markets leader with over 45 years of experience in building long-term relationships with institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices worldwide. During his successful career he has raised over $13 billion from investors in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and served as a senior executive in the Paris, London and New York offices of international financial services firms.
Gerard has joined Avalon Securities Ltd to assist clients with cross border transactions and to spearhead Avalon’s effort in the NewSpace sector.
Gerard’s focus on this market began five years ago when he Co-Founded Starfire 7 LLC, a firm which facilitates business connections between global investors and space ventures. In 2022, he launched the first Global Investor Day at the International Astronautical Congress (“IAC”) in Paris, a major annual, global event for space professionals. In 2024, Gerard’s firm was invited to collaborate with the French Space Agency (“CNES”) and SpaceFounders, their European accelerator, to recreate this event in Milan and financially empower the next generation of NewSpace leaders.
Gerard’s investment banking career began in real estate, serving as a Founding Principal and later Senior Advisor at M3 Capital Partners. During his 27-year tenure, he was instrumental in establishing M3's London office in 1998, leading a diverse team of 11 nationalities that completed some of the largest landmark transactions in Europe and Asia.
Earlier in his career, Gerard founded Euro-Spectrum, a consultancy focused on introducing U.S. business concepts to the French market and also worked as Director and Partner at Lincoln Property Company in Europe, where he helped establish the firm's capital markets division.
Gerard is an active member of the International Astronautical Federation (“IAF”) and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (“AFIRE”). He also served as Director of Membership for AFIRE, earning lifetime privileges in recognition of his leadership.
A U.S. Army veteran, Gerard served as a First Lieutenant and Company Commander, earning the Army Commendation Medal. He is bilingual in French and English and holds a B.A. in International Economics and Political Science from Middlebury College. Gerard holds Series 7, 24, and 79 licenses with FINRA.
