Thomas Apperson
Thomas I. Apperson brings over 40 years of investment banking, capital markets and financial advisory and restructuring experience to Avalon Net Worth. For the past several years his focus of activity has been advising companies on raising capital in the Energy, Renewable Energy & Clean Technology sectors, as well as other technology related companies.
Mr. Apperson’s career has included engagements in turnaround management and financial restructurings, leading to the successful sale of assets. Experience includes working on numerous cases that were in bankruptcy where he represented senior debtors/creditors.
Select capital transactions and advisory assignments include, advising and a subsequent project financing and capital rise for a private U.S. biofuels company; advising early stage solar company in the development of large scale installations; and advising a public U.S. company on its expansion capacity to develop coal, oil and gas, and coal bed methane properties.
Prior to joining Avalon Securities, Mr. Apperson was a Managing Director at Bradley Woods & Co., Spencer Clarke LLC and the Halyard Restructuring Group and served as President of Glenis Group Inc. He also held senior Corporate Restructuring and Banking/Credit positions at Barclays Bank, Bank of New York (Irving Trust Company) and Manufacturers Hanover Trust.
Mr. Apperson is a Director for ANSER (Analytic Services Inc.) in Falls Church, VA a public service company providing analytic and technical support to government agencies. He is a Chairmen of Investment Committee and member of Audit Committee. In 2015, he chaired the Search Committee for the new President and Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as a Trustee, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, across from La Guardia airport, New York.
Mr. Apperson received an M.B.A. from Fordham University in 1982 and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University in 1971. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
